My primary research interests lie in the interface between animal behaviour, conservation, ecology, and physiology. I am particularly interested in animal cognition, as well as the manner in which animal sensory systems interact with behaviour to form the neuroethology of information processing and decision-making. More recently, I have become interested in how behavioural ecology can inform conservation, pest management, and biosecurity practices. Based at the University of Canterbury (NZ), I typically investigate these topics using two of my favourite animal groups: alpine parrots (kea) and jumping spiders.
